Shockwave Therapy is the latest in high tech improvements to deal with chronic pain.
It works by delivering a series of high energy sound waves to the injured area to break down scar tissue and stimulate blood flow to trigger a faster healing response in the injured tissue.
NB: This treatment is not to be confused with therapeutic ultrasound which has been widely used in Australia for many years and a treatment in which effectiveness is still widely debated and questioned.
Shockwave therapy has been proven to have up to 80% success rate in clinical trials. It has been shown to be particularly effective in dealing with Heel Pain and Plantar Fascia injuries such as Plantar Fasciitis and Achilles Tendon injuries such as Achilles Tendonitis and Achilles Tendinopathy.
At Geelong Foot Clinic we utilise this high tech treatment in conjunction with assessment and adjunct treatment aimed at addressing the underlying cause of the injury.
However we treat with each and every person’s individual circumstances front of mind. We are keen athletes ourselves and we understand the importance of completing goals that you have trained hard for and worked towards.
Shockwave therapy provides an avenue for the person in training to complete their goal and possibly avoid the need to rest.
Whether your training for a marathon, half marathon, local fun run, footy or netball, or your too busy running around after the kids to take a break, shockwave could be an ideal treatment for you. Its fast working and you walk out of the clinic after treatment often with no recovery time necessary.
Our Podiatrists are skilled in assessing the people who are most likely to benefit from this treatment so call now for an appointment or submit a request by pressing the tab on this page and we’ll get back to you. After hours and Saturday appointments available.
Currently this service is available at our Geelong Clinic. If you are a patient of one of our other clinic locations your Podiatrist will have availabilities at the Geelong clinic.
